Weleda: Organic Toothpaste for the People Who Eat It. (Your Kids.)

So. You probably read that title and thought: who the freak has time to write about baby skin care products? Seriously. Will I really give a rip? Yes. You will and you should.

Like a lot of you, I am more than a little freaked out about all the nasty stuff that gets into our bodies (and more importantly, into our kids' bodies.) Sometimes when I open a deodorant stick, or slather on some makeup, I feel like I am just throwing in the towel and saying: Welcome, Cancer. Come on in! I'm vain and want to look and smell good, and I don't care if you kill me!

Weleda is the answer. Awesome company in New York that uses fair trade practices and makes cool organic skin care products, some specifically for mom and baby. I bought some of their baby products a few months ago for my kids and they did not disappoint.

Honestly, I think most "baby" products are a marketing tactic. (Is the lotion for the wee peeps really all that different from the lotion for the big people?) However, I make one exception: toothpaste. Otherwise known as gel that kids eat like candy and it really could be served on a plate and called dessert the way my daughter shovels it into her mouth.

If you are going to buy the "baby" label anywhere, you could say toothpaste would be a smart place to start. (Weleda also makes diaper cream, lotion, any other skin care product you can think of.) We should be using all of their stuff because the alternative is usually NOT GOOD.
