When my daughter was born two years ago, my stepmom gave me a really cool mobile for her crib. (It was by BlaBla. They make cute dolls, too.) I hung it above her crib thinking how great it looked with her modern nursery decor.
All was well until 12:56am that night when I thought: why am I awake? She's not crying. Oh right. She has silently been STRANGLED TO DEATH BY THAT MOBILE MADE OF YARN. I woke my husband up and asked him if he thought she had been killed by the mobile. (This one was right up there with a number of other completely insane things I asked him in the middle of the night.)
I kept the original mobile, but later bought this really cool one from Oras Designs that hangs on the wall, not over the crib. Sure, it is expensive but it is not "kids" art. It is just modern, cool art that you could use anywhere in the house.

The original mobile will eventually be sold or given away. But I'm not giving this one up.
